A busy town at the foot of Mount Vesuvius, it owes its prosperity to the numerous and small clothing industries

The town has suffered several times the fury of the volcano and was completely covered in ashes from the eruption of 1906.

Among its most significant monuments, it’s worth visiting the  Church of the Virgin Mother of God  hat was built by the Prince of Ottaviano in the second half of the eighteenth century at the behest of the peasants and the  Sanctuary of St. Joseph  n Piazza Garibaldi, with its splendid neoclassical façade and rich interior decorated with the throne of St. Joseph.
