the foot of the volcano and is surrounded by the steep wooded slopes of Mount Somma.<\/p>\n<p>Like the nearby San Sebastiano, Massa was largely destroyed by the eruption of 1944, therefore it presents itself with a predominantly modern appearance.<\/p>\n<p>The ancient <strong> Church of St. Mary <\/strong>\u00a0is in ruins, but around the village you can admire some well-preserved\u00a0<strong>Vesuvius farms<\/strong>,\u00a0the most interesting of which,\u00a0<strong>Masseria Rendita<\/strong>, is located upstream of the
